Privacy Policy - The Kenilworth Key
Last updated: 16 September 2026
The Kenilworth Key is a local offers and business directory app run by The Town Keys ("we", "us"). The Town Keys is operated by Clive Jones, sole trader trading as The Town Keys, of 15 Arbour Close, Kenilworth, CV8 2BA. You can contact us about privacy at policies@thetownkeys.co.uk.
The short version
You can use The Kenilworth Key without an account, without giving us your name, and without paying anything. Your unlocked keys live on your own phone. We collect very little data, we never sell it, and we only use analytics if you say yes.
What we collect and why
- On your phone only (never sent to us): your unlocked keys and wallet, your cookie/privacy choices, and a note that you have seen the install guide. This stays in your browser's local storage on your device. Clearing your browser storage or uninstalling removes it.
- Feedback you choose to send (optional, anonymous): the About page has a feedback form (suggestion, bug report, or praise, as a member or a partner). It sends only the type, category, and your message text to our database (Supabase). Please don't include personal details in the message. We use it to fix and improve the app and keep it for up to 24 months.
- Analytics (only with your consent): if you accept analytics, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the app is used - pages viewed, buttons tapped (including when someone taps a locked feature), and general usage. Google processes this on our behalf and may process it outside the UK under appropriate safeguards. If you decline or toggle analytics off, no analytics data is collected.
- If you contact us: if you email policies@thetownkeys.co.uk or message us on WhatsApp, Facebook, or Instagram, we use your contact details and message only to respond and help you.
- Standard technical logs: our hosting and database providers (Cloudflare and Supabase) keep routine server logs (such as IP address and device/browser type) for security and reliability, for a limited period.
- Business listing submissions ("Add Your Business"): if you submit your business to be listed on The Town Keys directory via our website form, we collect your business name, address, contact details (phone, email, website, social handles), category, description, and any uploaded image. We collect your contact name and email based on your consent so we can verify your listing, update you on your submission, contact you when The Town Keys expands to your town, and inform you about relevant directory features or promotional opportunities. This data is emailed directly to our administrative team and is not published until reviewed. You may withdraw consent or request removal of your listing and contact details at any time by emailing policies@thetownkeys.co.uk or clive@thetownkeys.co.uk.
What we never do
We do not sell your data. We do not run third-party advertising. We do not collect payment details in the app. We do not require your name, email, or phone number to browse or redeem offers.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, object to how we use it, or withdraw consent at any time (the analytics toggle in Manage Preferences works instantly). Most of your data is on your own phone, so deleting the app's storage removes it. Contact policies@thetownkeys.co.uk and we will respond within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Children
The Kenilworth Key is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
